Shirley Shackleton in Solidarity with Ships Sailing to West Papua

Shirley Shackleton spoke to a crowd protesting outside the Indonesian Consulate in Melbourne on the 27th September in solidarity with the Freedom Flotilla to West Papua. She spoke from her experience in the long struggle for justice for her husbands murder and for the East Timorese, and shared lessons on the role of the Lusitania Expresso in drawing attention to human rights abuses in Timor after the Santa Cruz massacre in 1991. Shirley draws the connections between this voyage and the Freedom Flotilla to West Papua, as well as the dispossession of Indigenous people of Australia and West Papua
