ABC: Freedom Flotilla approaches Indonesia’s marine border

The flotilla making its way from Australia towards the Indonesian Province of Papua is expected to cross Indonesia’s marine border on Wednesday.

Organisers of the “Freedom Flotilla” say they aim to let the world know about human rights abuses in Papua.

The group of around 20 people embarked on their journey last month.

On Monday the group left Horn Island in the Torres Strait, despite being warned by Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade that if they’re arrested or detained by Indonesian police, the Australian Government will not provide any extra consular assistance.
