The Australian: Police brutality payout helps subsidise West Papua Freedom Flotilla

IN a twist of their partially completed mission, the returned sailor-activists of the West Papua Freedom Flotilla have revealed their flagship was bought with money paid by the South Australian government because of brutality by SA police.

Returning to Melbourne yesterday, flotilla co-organiser Izzy Brown said she had bought her yacht, Pog, with part of a $650,000 damages payout made to 10 protesters in 2010 after police brutalised them at an anti-uranium mining demonstration.
